“Sattva” is our room fragrance series blended by our friend Satoko who is a professional yoga teacher. They are produced based on the concept of the Indian traditional treatment Ayurveda doshas (Vata, Pitta and Kapha). It took much time to find an ideal bottle because we already had an idea to use a green glass spray bottle of 60ml size which we finally came across in Taipei. To match the shape of the slightly pentagon shaped bottles, we made many mock ups of the boxes in pentagon, and also discovered that pentagon shapes are very functional to put easy-to-slide bottles inside. We have also used the unique “slip in and lock” style which we were advised from the Taiwanese box maker so that the box lids will not open due to the heaviness of the bottle. Yanjie drew all the illustrations on the boxes according to the compositions of the spray.
These beautiful emerald color glasses are recycled glass from Bali, Indonesia. We made a Japanese style cup with a little height at the bottom. It looks great when you pour Japanese tea inside which becomes a beautiful blend of emerald and yellow color. We also love the color mixture when putting red wines.
Soap trays made of pallas stones at a stone curving studio on a mountain located in the suburbs of Jogyakarta, Indonesia. It was an amazing experience to see a young artisan already with 15 years of experience, hand curve the soap tray exactly the same as the original design produced on 3D software. Pallas stones sand stones are unique to this area and has a beautiful matte white color. They are very light yet with rough texture, so we thought of making soap trays out of them.
After watching the wood curving techniques of Mr. Watanabe at Suginosha Yakusugi studio (a woodwork studio using 1000 years old Yakushima cedar trees) , we thought we want to make a massage stick because of the smooth texture and the nice elegant smell. Our idea was to make a stick consisting of various size curves so that people can choose a curve that best fits their pressure points. And as a result, we made it in a shape of a bird taking hints from a bird-shaped old Chinese jade hairpin. It was our intention to make them look cute so that people can even bring it to their offices. We were amazed to see the perfect results of the final wooden product which was hand curved just buy looking at our 3D design images. The surface is coated with beeswax for extra rich texture, and to keep them look clean.
